JUNE 28, 2024 -- Today Liam St. John, known for his no-holds-back authentic songwriting, revealed “Believer,” a set of four tracks showcasing the dynamic songwriting from the Nashville-based, blues-inflected rock artist.
The title track shows a vastly different St. John than the hard-charging, rollicking, guitar-wielding powerhouse we met in “Landslide Over The Highway,” the first track and video revealed earlier this month. “Believer” tells his story of St. John’s disillusion with the Christianity he was raised on, and how he found that sort of salvation in his partner’s kiss. It’s a bluesy epic, a beautiful ode to true love. “That type of love is the thing I could sacrifice my soul for,” Liam explains.
The videos for the two songs, directed by Zeb Griffin of Columinati Films, tell a “Bonnie & Clyde”- story of star-crossed outlaws and a robbery gone wrong. “Believer” shows the aftermath of the adrenaline-filled escape scene at the end of “Landslide Over The Highway.”
The “Believer” EP digs deep into St. John’s emotional past, exploring struggles with faith, substance abuse, difficult relationships and more, while expanding his sonic range, and teasing out new strands of the roots and rock and roll that fans have grown so enamored by over the years.
“I've been pursuing this career for a long time,” says St. John, “but…being candid and telling my story…That's what has resonated the most with my audience. I’ve found that the best way to connect with others is to tell the story only you can tell.”
